The first part of the program is focused on the professional development of each participant. By starting with the development of the individual before the on-going development of the companies, each participant is able to nurture a professional persona that they can leverage during the program.
These topics include:
Creating a LinkedIn profile
Conducting an informational interview
Building a professional network
The program then enters a stage where participants pitch ideas, form teams and build companies. By leveraging the experiential learning environment created by building a company, participants grow their professional competencies while also taking and idea and creating a viable startup. The finalized curriculum and dates for each cycle is announced at the beginning of the program year and past topics have included:
What is a Good Business Opportunity?
The Art of the Perfect Pitch
Sessions are lead by our TiE Young Entrepreneurs Instructor. Meet the TYE Program Team here.
To supplement our workshops and to inspire the rising entrepreneurs in our program, we have a large database of mentors who are here to guide all of our students through the difficulties of being an entrepreneur.
Participants are encouraged to reach out to all workshop leaders and guest speakers to support their individual development and the growth of their startup. Along with these individuals, each startup is paired with a mentor who works with the team to get ready for the final competition.
Our mentors are incredible people who not only understand all the components of building a startup, they also care about creating a supportive learning environment for young people!
